PREFACE
With the
development of proteome, metabolome and biotechiques, the separation and
identification of complex samples are an urgent task that analytical
chemistry has to face. Chromatography, as an important analysis technique,
has been widely applied into many fields, such as life science, environment,
medicine, food and petrochemical engineering. Recently, more and more
requirements have been put forward for the analysis of practical samples,
chromatography is undergoing a rapid development.
1st
and 2nd China-Japan Joint Seminars on Separation Science were
held in Dalian, China on July 2000 and in Kyoto, Japan on December 2001,
respectively. The two
seminars have made great progress in separation science as well as the
relationship between both sides. On the basis of last two seminars, we plan
to hold the 3rd China-Japan Joint
Seminar on Separation Science in Dalian, China during April 2-4,
2004. The aim is to provide a forum for discussion and interaction between
the pioneers involved in the groundbreaking work of past decades and those
young scientists who are bringing into important play in the new century.
The proceedings
consist of a total of twenty-nine abstracts for this seminar (9 from Japan
and 20 from China), which very well reflect the state of the art in
chromatography and related techniques in the new period. They include the
multi-dimension chromatography technique, hyphenated techniques, microchip
and nanochip technology, proteome analysis, metabonomics analysis and solid
phase microextraction as well as new development of GC, HPLC and CE.
The seminar has
been financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of
China, Shimadzu Corporation (Hongkong) and Dalian Institute of Chemical
Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. We would like to thank all people and
organization to support the seminar, without them the seminar could not have
been held.
In the last, we
hope all attendees enjoy the seminar, enjoy your stay at Dalian.
